The best part of our lives is spent solving problems for other people and being rewarded for the privilege.

Our belief is that beautiful and inspiring spaces increase creativity and ability to think outside the box.

    Heritage

In a lease dated 1527 the property was described as a tenement with garden, the lessee being one William Style, a burgess of the borough. In the 19th century John Cecil Blandy, a brewer and wine merchant resided there for a time, but earlier that century it had been the office of Mr J. Omer Cooper auctioneer and estate agent and the premises of Miss Higham’s ladies seminary. It is currently owned by Arthur op den Brouw, brand and marketing consultant. Castle Studios is one of just three Grade II* listed buildings in Reading’s St Mary’s and Castle Street conservation areas.

    A work in progress

As of Q1 2026, we have successfully brought back to life about one-third of this beautiful building. As it's a Grade II* listed building, we've needed to ensure that our work didn't detrimentally impact the fabric or original features. Much of the character of the property had been obscured when it was converted to offices and in constant use since then. We've worked with heritage architects, Colony and the local council to ensure its protection and to bring back as much of the charm as possible, while also creating beautiful modern and functional spaces.

    Events at 'The Castle'

From summer 2026, Castle Studios will begin running a programme of small to mid-scale events. These will range from working sessions and roundtables to talks and evening gatherings. Formats include: problem-solving, knowledge sharing or building stronger relationships.

Themes will span current experience, society, industry and creative practice. The intention is simple: to create a reliable space for thoughtful conversation, practical insight and collaboration, without noise or unnecessary scale.
